2 Weeks In Portland? Also Happy New Year
Hola hola everybody
Time is so crazy it's been 2 weeks since I've gotten here to Portland as of last Friday. It definetly does not feel like 2 weeks while also feeling like months. Had zone conference Friday that
So christmas night we ate with this older couple and it went for 2 1/2 hours. Which sucked but it wasn't bad but it took up a lot of our pday time. Then after that we went bowling which was super fun.
On the 26th we had a district council that was super cool because we did role plays and later that night exactly what happened in the role play happened in a lesson with some of our friends and the same thing happened again last night which was crazy. And we also gave a little kid a blessing in spanish. He couldn't breathe and was hooked up to a bunch or respirators and apparently his dad had a dream about missionaries and his son being one. They are inactive members so hopefully they will go back to church.
Went on exchanges on wednesday which was lit. Went to one of the English areas in our Spanish area and had some lessons that were good except the people talked for like an hour.
Almost died right before we exchanged back. We were talking with this guy, who has one leg, who is a rapper or something, who wants to be baptized but has things to change still. Like smoking and the air was so dense with the smell and stuff and after 30 minutes of talking with him I was lightheaded and it was hard to breathe. As soon as we walked out it was instant relief. But it sucked. But I am ok.
Had Zone Conference today which was longer than expected. 6 1/2 hours. But it was great and it was fun too. For Facebook profiles we have to get it approved from this lady which usually takes a while but for my cover pic it was approved first try which was cool and now I'm almost Facebook profile approved.
Had a very interesting and very confusing and maybe even a little blasphemous meal with some older members. He was going off about priesthood stuff and there was 4 of us elders there and we looked at each other so confused but him and his wife both were going on about stuff about the priesthood and when we left we all were shooketh. It was pretty crazy but they are super old and pretty crazy too.
We have this friend named Mauricio and he is from Venezuela so his Spanish I harder for me to understand. But he's great he can't read at all and was living on the streets for a couple days and now it's complicated but he's doing good and we are going to start trying to teach him how to read so hopefully I'll learn too finally.
It's so freaking cold here but it's mainly because of the wind and lack of sun which hopefully will come back soon.
Had a miracle filled first day of the year yesterday, had district council and the Mish president was there which was kinda scary but it went great. Then tons of people canceled with us til we went to Mauricio and met with him and turns out he's been smoking(weed) and drinking alcohol but he's hasn't been too bad to the recent convert he's living with, but her abusive husband is back in her life helping her with her son and its really tough for her.
We had this amazing lesson with these senior missionaries that are just so great and right after this lady started talking to us about her hard life and how she loves Jesus and wants to stop drinking. Her name is Lafonda which I immediately thought of Napoleon Dynomite but we also has some super fire Venezuelan sopa that was so good.
